Mini garbage bin for 3D printing waste (vase and normal mode)

I have a little garbage bin next to all of my printers. This design is available in vase mode and normal mode.

Basics about this design:

The design of this elegant octagon bin was actually done in a few minutes. Only after I had printed it from PETG, I realized that when printed in vase mode, the slight shrinking of PETG gives it an additional distinct look from the slight waveform on the vertical surfaces. That also adds to stability, as it turns out. Sometimes even a 3D designer like me needs a little luck ;-)

Based on the feedback that I got on the pure vase mode design, I have now added two more .stl files with a fixed wall thickness of 1mm and 2mm respectively. Apparently some of the users found the vase mode print to wobbly. I personally still prefer the vase mode design, but feel free to let me know how you find the others if you print them.

I hope this thing is helpful,
have fun everyone and happy printing!

Printing tips for vase mode:

This shape needs to be printed with vase mode enabled, otherwise you will simply end up with a huge solid octagon. For those that are not familiar with how vase mode works, I have included the .3mf file and even the complete .gcode file for a Prusa Mini and Prusament PETG material.

My print, which is shown in the pictures, was done from PETG from DasFilament.de at 230°C, on a Prusa Mini. The color is anthracite.

License:

The license does not allow derivatives, as someone on Thingiverse tried to circumvent my “no commercial use” license on another design by collecting donations on a “Remix”, that did not add any significant value. That made me really sad. If you want to seriously remix this design, please contact me and I will gladly approve that.
