St. Peter's Church (Iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol) is a Catholic temple in the northern Spanish city of Gijón, in Asturias. It is one of its most representative buildings.
An important fact is that, unlike most European churches that date as far back as the Middle Ages, the current church is quite recent, built between 1945 and 1955. The original gothic church was destroyed in 1936 in the events revolving the Spanish Civil War. It was rebuilt in a Historicist style inspired by Romanesque and Asturian Pre-romanesque by architects Francisco & Federico Somolinos (from Wikipedia).
