Both designs are only meant to keep wires from becoming an inclusion into the gears and allowing inspection and access to spur differential nut and motor mess screws, without having to alter, cut or otherwise destroy the injection molded black gear cover.
100% infill and max number of walls as per your nozzle dia. I prefer to use 0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer heights for small items like this.
