The gridfinity storage solution for your polyhedral dice collection

I designed dice storage in the gridfinity system. To fit the dice perfectly, I constructed my own dice positives [https://www.printables.com/model/657920-polyhedral-dice-positives-parametric-for-making-di] to make the spaces for the dice. These dice positives are parametric and can be changed to fit all kinds of dice sets. For the current available sizes and how to measure your dice, read down below.

Updates:

14.01.2024: New and improved parametric Fusion 360 model. Now with dynamic spacing between the dice and a configuration table, that it's quick and easy to make a fitting case for your dice. The D6 and D12 now change the height dynamically if they get too tall, so they won't poke a hole through the bottom.

What sizes are currently available?

How to measure your dice, see down below. If your dice size won't fit any of the current ones, and you are not able to use fusion 360 yourself, you can write my, maybe I can add your sizes. (I can't guarantee that I have always time to speedily write back, but I do my best.)

Different z-height versions

There are versions with height u6 and height u4. In the u6 is space for bigger dice, but it needs a lot of material, so I made the 4u version. The initial intention with the 6u is to make it compatible with the Gridfinity Storage Box by Pred (https://www.printables.com/model/543553-gridfinity-storage-box-by-pred-now-parametric). To keep this compatibility, there is also a 2u spacer. There is not a lot of space in 2u, but it's enough to keep a thin pencil in there.

Magnets

It uses 12 standard gridfinity magnets (6x2). It's a press fit, because I don't like to glue stuff. I press the magnets in place with a little piece of wood and a small hammer.

How to measure your dice?

That the Dice fit, you have to include a tolerance to the measurement, especially because of the rounded tips the dice measure too small.

My recommendation:

Face to Face Distance+ 1 mm
Tip to Face Distance+ 3 mm
Tip to Tip Distance+ 5 mm
D4 Tip to Face Distance
D6 Face to Face Distance
D8 Face to Face Distance
D10/D100

Tip to Tip long (is sometimes equal to the short measurement or even smaller, it's the measurement between the two tips with five edges coming off it)

Tip to Tip short (is sometimes equal to the long measurement or even bigger, it's the measurement between the two tips with three edges coming off it)

D12 Face to Face Distance
D20 Face to Face Distance

Thanks

Special thanks to Zack Freedman, for inventing gridfinity and to Le0Michine for making a great Fusion 360 plugin.
