I've been searching for a simple bracket/mount to replace my rather old filament shelf. While I liked quite a few of the designs available, I decided to do my own thing.

The hole in the brackets fits 22 mm wooden rods. To make it easier I also added the brackets without the hole so you simply create one that will fit your rod diameter. You can do this directly in any modern Slicer by adding a cylindrical negativemodifier in the right spot.

I've used 2 wooden rods with a length of 240 cm (approx. 95 inch). The recommended spacing of brackets would be 80 - 100 cm for a diameter of 22 mm. On the bottom there are holes for short screws to fix the rods in place. Predrill the screw holes and please handtighten the screws - otherwise you will split the layers! Adding these screws will give the whole shelf more sturdiness.

Recommended print settings:

  • 4-5 walls
  • 0.2 layer height
  • 0.42 extrusion width
  • 25% cubic or gyroid infill
  • 3 bottom layers
  • 4 top layers

Use whatever material you like the most. I used PLA (Prusament Galaxy Black).

Print time @250 mm/s for 1 bracket is approx. 90 minutes.

You can use the bracket either hanging or standing.
