This model is sourced from the 3d-digitization program of the Smithsonian Museum's website.  It's available for download in various formats and qualities. I strongly recommend exercising caution when considering the full-resolution scans, as they can quickly consume more than 1 GB of disk space.

The stl provided is “Neil Armstrong Spacesuit (Medium Resolution 3D Mesh, fbx, scale in mm)”. The .3mf is a Bambu Studio project and already features appropiate print parameters and scale.

Print settings:

  • Scale it appropiately.
  • Adjust its position slightly along the Z-axis to ensure the shoes have a flat bottom, allowing the model to stand securely on its own.
  • Material: PLA (for surface quality, I used Bambulab PLA matte white)
  • Print profile: 0.2mm Standard
  • Walls: 4
  • Supports: Tree Support (auto generated worked great for me)
  • Print time: 8-9h (on a P1P with the mentioned setting)
