This air filter with activated carbon pellets helps to reduce the fumes/smells from printing ABS or ASA by recirculating the air inside the printer. This also helps to create a more even temperature throughout the build chamber. Make sure to use good quality activated carbon! Cheap ones might contain residues of acids which can cause corrosin inside the printer. Personally I use the \u201cNevermore Activated Carbon\u201d which is popular in the Voron Community.

This design requires one 5015 radial fan for each of the air filters. I recommend the Gdstime GDB5015 6000RPM fan due to it's high static pressure, which is necessary to push air through all of the activated carbon pellets.

It is the same model for both the left and the right side, you just need to install the heatset insert on opposing sides. You need two 4mm long M3 heat set inserts per air filter.

There is a slot to install a fine mesh which is supposed to stop small carbon particles from falling down into the fan.

To attach the top piece with the carbon to the base piece with the fan, you need four round 6x2mm magnets per air filter.

You can use the existing screw hole from the rear panel to attach the air filter to the printer.

Personally I don't want the air filter to run all the time and I don't want it to run at 100%. So I installed a custom PCB which automatically turns on both air filters at 75% speed when either one of the hotend fans is running. This way the filter always runs when a print starts, and continues to run for a couple of minutes after each print is finished until the hotend is below 60\u00b0C. To simplify it, I would recommend to buy a simple PWM Dimmer and control the fan speed this way.

I did notch out a bit of the aluminum base plate to make more space to safely route the cables into the electronics chamber of the printer. If you use an external power source and a PWM dimmer this won't be necessary.
