Announcement: I released new v2.0 adapter with simple one piece, one screw mount. If you're looking something even more stable than Velcro strip mount, I highly recommend checking it.
Update 25.11.23 - Added precision position calibration rig model.
Update 05.11.23 - No battery cover version models received significant upgrade. Models have been re-cut again with better quality scanned controller mesh. Controller should now fit very nice and snug without any wobble. Space for index finger has also been slightly extended for better comfort. There are also number of little corrections too long to list but overall I tried to accommodate all suggestions received. I highly suggest using no battery cover model for best experience.
Update 2: 27.10.23 - Added flared handle FL and straight ST. Follow the folders to download correct version. Enjoy!
Update 1: 26.10.23 - Added model specifically for use without battery cover. I highly recommend using it as default as it significantly improves stiffness of the controller mount. It also reduces weight slightly and makes a bit more space for index finger.
ETT position preset: 572546.3 (update: position is now available in game's settings)
Free and easy to print table tennis adapter for Quest3. Requires minimal assembly using wedge as connector. For additional stiffness use drop of super glue on the wedge piece while assembling.
Print with PLA or PETG flat ideally at least at 0.2mm. Use support only for controller holder (see picture where to use supports). If supports leave a bit rough surface after removal use a little bit of sanding paper to make inside of the holder smooth.
Finally I very much recommend using rubberized mounting strap. You can buy one for under £3 on ebay look for Battery Strap RC Made With Kevlar Strap & Rubberised Drone Lipo I included the picture and link of what I use. Strap makes huge difference how well controller sits in the holder. Bad/loose strap may lead to controller detaching which could be catastrophic. Ideally strap should not be more than 20mm wide and around 250mm long. I use this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193107112391
Weight considerations: I experimented with PLA prints and can suggest for the total weight with controller 170-180grams for the model with the battery cover print using 3 perimeter walls + 15% infill (gyroid). The model with no battery cover should be about 160-170grams. It is possible to print lighter setups, I managed to print build of 150 grams total with controller without battery cover using lightweight pla for the handle + AA to AAA battery adapter.
If you find a way to improve the model I included STEP file, so feel free to edit and remix it however you want.
If you have problem with good fitting of wedge between handle part (this could be the case sometimes as no two printer+filaments combinations are the same). Use a bit of sanding paper if too tight. Eventually use scale option when printing wedge to make it tiny bit smaller/bigger to work with your prints. Good luck!
