Arizer Air Max case

I designed this case for safe storage of the Arizer Air Max when not in use.

The case contains placeholders for all the parts you would need for a vape session:

  • 1x The Air Max portable micro-heater;
  • 2x The glass aroma tube (70mm) and/or the frosted glass aroma tube;
  • stainless steel stirring tool;
  • and even place for a little brush.

You can use the lid to place the Air Max in during a vape session, to prevent it from falling.

Design

Both the lid and the case use magnets to hold them together. You need 8 magnets of diameter 6mm and thickness 2mm.

Printing

Nothing special is needed for printing this case. Both the case and the lid are printed with the following settings:

  • layer height: 0.2mm
  • infill: 10%
  • #wall loops: 3

No supports are needed.

The lid is printed in two colors, one for the logo. Make sure you import the lid with the letters as a single object with multiple parts. After this you can assign the right colors in your slicer to both the lid and the letters.

Assembly

Because of the different sized holes for the brush and the stirring tool, the lid can only be placed in one way. To make sure this works properly you place the magnets in a certain way. Make sure the two magnets at the case front have the same poles facing upwards (for example both have the North facing upwards) and the two magnets at the case back have the reverse poles facing upwards (in the same example both have the South facing upwards). Then make sure the four magnets in the lid do the same but reversed. In this way the lid can only be placed on the case in one way. If you’d place the lid in the wrong way you cannot close the case and would feel a slight resistance from the magnets.

The placeholders for the magnets have a tight fit. This way there is no need to use glue to keep the magnets in place. But this requires a well-tuned printer as well as some tools like a screw driver and a hammer to get them in. Just be gently with the hammer.
