Note About Compatibility

I only tested this model with the spool holder post included with a Qidi X-Plus 3. I'm making an assumption that the X-Max 3 and X-Smart 3 have the same spool holder since they were released at the same time.

Description

Sometimes when using the Qidi dry box, the exit angle is not ideal. When using a spool holder mount on the left side of the printer, this problem can be pretty bad if the mount wasn't designed with exit angle in mind. To make things worse, you can't just flip over the dry box and mount it lid in because the post included with the Qidi X-Plus/Max/Smart 3 is not long enough.

I designed this little extended post cap to fix these problems and give a lot more flexibility when using the dry box. Just use this cap instead of the Qidi supplied one when mounting the dry box lid in. The one drawback is that the mechanism used in the Qidi cap to "click" in place is very small and hard to replicate with an FDM printer. This cap mostly relies on a tight fit so you may need to play with it to get it just right.

In one of the photos you can see a comparison with the Qidi cap. In another you can see the dry box mounted lid in using the extended cap and my side mount model.

Settings

My print settings: 4 perimeters, 4 top and bottom layers, 0.20 layer height, 15% gyroid infill

I printed in PETG but it shouldn't really matter. The print orientation can be right side up or upside down depending on your printer's support and bridging capabilities. Nothing too taxing here. Just make sure to use supports, especially for the little grooves. I used snug supports with good results.
