Description

..."All was dark about it, earth and sky, but it was lit with light. Not the light welling through the marble walls of long ago (...). Paler indeed than the moon ailing in some slow eclipse was the light of it now, wavering and blowing like a noisome exhalation of decay, a corpse-light, a light that illuminated nothing."

—The Two Towers

Inspired by Tolkien's lore, this is MiniWorld3D's interpretation of the Fortress of Black Sorcery, a translation of the Sindarin "Minas Morgul".

This used to be a beautiful citadel that glowed white in the moonlight, but decayed and was transformed into a beacon of evil and dread after dark forces conquered it, minions and wraith chieftains making it their base.

We have given it our own spin with creative license, and of course, optimization for 3D printing, so all the details print easily without supports or brims! The top of the tower can turn, to recreate one of the mythical features of this fortress.

Included in your download are a stand base to conceal a light source of your choice. See the Print Settings below for more information.

PRINT SETTINGS

Suggested parameters:

For better details, print slow, such as 20mm/s for outer perimeters, you can slow down even more for the spires and thin features to print correctly.
Fine-tune retraction to avoid stringing.
Perimeters: 2
Top layers: 3
Infill: low, 12% for example, lightning pattern or halving steps possible.

1. No supports, proven!

No supports needed, this has been optimized to eliminate all overhangs. Using supports would increase the risk of breaking small features during removal.

2. Pre-supported entrance

There is only one part that needs support, and it's been included as part of the model. It is located directly at the main entrance of the fortress, in the "mouth" of the face. Clip it with pliers after printing.

3. Top of the tower

Print separately and assemble later, so it can turn on the axis.

4. Stand base

Print upside-down (rotate 180 deg), with the larger flat area on the print bed.

5. Light screen for eerie glow

A flat semi circular piece is provided if you want to use it as a screen to give the light a color. Print it in translucent filament, green or turquoise would be accurate but you can try anything.
