These are similar to the blocks used in intelligence tests. 2.5cm. Children are shown a pattern on paper and asked to replicate the pattern with the blocks
Assembly
To make two blocks, print two copies of the STL in different colors. I believe white and red are common. The two halves fit together with friction. The snap connector isn't perfectly centered so rotating the halves 180* might give a better fit.
Print settings
- Prusa MK3S+
- 0.3mm draft
- 1.75 mm PLA, Polyterra Matte White/Watermelon
Which file to print?
- WPPSI Block x1 → start here, if too tight, then try the next
- WPPSI Block x1 Lower Tolerance → snap connector is smaller, will provide less friction
- WPPSI Block x5 Lower Tolerance → same as above but prints 5 copies
Why no STL/STEP file?
- I did the cut and connector in PrusaSlicer which can't export this boolean operation correctly
- If you want to reproduce, import a 2.5mm cube, cut in PrusaSlicer with snap connector that is 7.5mm (size) 7.5mm (depth)
Ideas for improvements
- Add glue and clamp together for tighter fit
- Rework model with a separate pin connector so that the mating faces can be printed face down and then glued together
- Rounded corners
This is not an official block and may not match those used in standardized test
