Soap holder

“CHIOCCIOLA” è un porta saponetta realizzato in PETG, dalla forma semplice e dalla geometria curiosa.

Stampare il prodotto è molto semplice, non necessita di supporti ed è facile da staccare.

Le caratteristiche principali sono che la saponetta non deve scivolare fuori dall'oggetto e esso deve avere una serie di scoli per l'acqua in eccesso per evitare ristagni: ciò vincola il designer, in molti casi che ho visto, ad avere una superfice “bucata” nella parte superiore, il che crea questo ripetersi di forme chiuse e finite. Ho deciso quindi di iniziare a progettare con l'intento di eliminare questa caratteristica formale utilizzando un unico elemento che “da solo” componesse il prodotto.

Ho pensato quindi fosse interessante avere un elemento, simile ad un tubo o un serpente, che si muovesse nello spazio per delimitare l'oggetto, ma senza creare delle geometrie chiuse sulla superfice.

L'elemento doveva attorcigliarsi, per aumentare la stabilità strutturale, e non occupare tutto lo spazio per gli scoli: ho quindi posizionato il legame sul piano di stampa, lasciando la silouette superiore del portasapone continua e praticamente aperta così da eliminare il più possibile acqua ristagnante.

“CHIOCCIOLA” is a soap holder made of PETG, with a simple shape and curious geometry.

Printing the product is very simple, it does not require supports and is easy to detach.

The main characteristics are that the bar of soap must not slip out of the object and it must have a series of drains for excess water to avoid stagnation: in many cases that I have seen  this forces the designer  to have a "holly" surface ” in the upper part, which creates this repetition of closed and finished shapes. I therefore decided to start designing with the intention of eliminating this formal characteristic by using a single element that "alone" made up the product.

I therefore thought it would be interesting to have an element, similar to a tube or a snake, that moved in space to delimit the object, but without creating closed geometries on the surface.

The element had to twist, to increase structural stability, and not take up all the space for drains: I positioned the structural twisted element on the printing surface, leaving the upper silhouette of the soap dish continuous and mostly open to eliminate stagnant water as much as possible .
