FOLDY 1.1 (Older Version)

Like many other people, I enjoy watching movies or series on my phone on long train journeys or flights to pass the time. 

Usually, I’d try to support the phone with something I simply have lying around or squeeze it into a gap in order to get the right angle.

And of course, rarely it would stay in place, have the right angle, or continuously fall over after every turn or bump.

After looking through several great phone holders for printing to solve this annoyance, I couldn’t really find one which is not only adjustable but also doesn’t take away much space.

Therefore, I decided to give it a go myself and came up with FOLDY – The Foldable and Adjustable Phone holder (and your new best travel companion (;)

Some features of Foldy are:

• Can be folded to fit into your pocket or bag
• Can be adjusted for different angles
• Can hold your phone vertically or horizontally
• Has some extra space for your charger when holding your phone vertically
• Holding hooks can be locked in place for extra security
• Easy to print and sturdy design

Summary of my print on Prusa Mini+:

• Supports: Organic (Supports on build plate only)
• Infill: 100% (can most likely be reduced)
• Material: PLA (Prusament PLA Galaxy Black & Orange)
• Layer thickness: 0,2mm
• Brim: Yes
• Additional information: For stability reasons, I recommend to print all parts horizontally (even the bolts) and when/if you release the holding hooks, make sure to be very cautious to not break the pins in the process.

FOLDY 2.0 (Updated Version)

More strength, better foldable, same size: The new version can now support all of your mobile devices, including tablets or a Nintendo Switch!

Part 1

• Cross support adjusted to hold hooks level in place when folded
• Smoothened edges (0,5mm x 45°)

Part 2

• Changed position of cross supports to allow the part to be folded completely flat
• Adjusted size of cross support bar for extra stability and to include hole for bolt + engraved writing
• Hook thickness and hook pin diameter increased for extra sturdiness
• Smoothened edges (0,5mm x 45°)

Part 3

• Increased thickness of cross support for extra stability
• Smoothened edges (0,5mm x 45°)

Bolt 1 / Bolt 2

• The diameter for lock ring hole increased

Lock Rings

• Complete redesign to be sturdier and easier to fit into bolt holes

Summary of my print on Prusa Mini+:

• Supports: Organic (Supports on build plate only)
• Infill: 15%
• Perimeters: 3
• Material: PLA (Prusament PLA Galaxy Black & Orange)
• Layer thickness: 0,2mm for Part 1,2,3 & 0,15mm for Bolt 1,2 + Lock Rings
• Brim: Yes
• Additional information: For stability reasons, I recommend printing all parts horizontally (even the bolts).
