A couple of brackets I designed to mount non-rack-mountable Unifi switches on a rack shelf.

Printed in Prusament ASA as the switches and surrounding rack equipment can get fairly toasty.

The story: I finally bought a house and covered it in cat6 and put up a proper rack. Unfortunately, neither of my unifi switches (US-8-60W and Enterprise-8 10G) were rackmountable, so I designed and 3D printed some brackets to fit them on a 1U shelf, with a POE-to-USB brick powering some 40mm Noctua fans to cool the 10 gig switch. Now both switches are held securely in the rack giving that sweet clean look. The last photo is the curent state of things (just need to add a shelf for the Virgin modem and turn everything on!).

A note about temperatures.  Since these switches are not meant to be back rack mounted, there are some concerns they will overheat.  I have the swiches under the patch panel so the tops are completely exposed, and the rack shelf they sit on is vented; along with the two fans, both switches stay under 70 degC (the temp reported in the Unifi controller).  They have been working just fine like this, but obviously use at your own risk.

Native OnShape files available here.

Enjoy!
