Saw Guide with hard-doweled notch for Hacksaw

Plastic sawguides are great… except that often they're softer than the materials being sawn.

Now make square cuts with confidence : this tool is reinforced with hard steel dowels *. 

Interchangeable jaws accept different material shapes. The Vee jaws accommodate round materials from 4 mm to 30 mm.

FreeCAD users can use the provided source model to create extra jaws.

*   4 off dowels   Ø6 x 50 mm : DIN 6325 : hardened & ground

I had to gently drill out my dowel holes to make them fit. With a well-printed component and appropriate value of the “Horizontal Expansion" (Cura) parameter this mightn't be an issue.

Ideally the dowels should rotate when provided with a little grease, but shouldn't be too loose or the cut will be less accurate.
