This is a fixed belt clip for the Baofeng UV-9R radio that is compatible with MOLLE/PALS webbing. The original clip is a rotating design that isn't suitable for some applications.

This clip snaps over the lanyard attachment on top and mates with the “docking collar” of the radio. It is secured with the original screw (M2.5x8 round head).

There are 3 versions of the clip here:

  • 50-20: This has a clip length of 50mm and is 20mm wide. It's a basic clip similar in size to the original.
  • 50-20 NS: This is the same 50-20 clip, but with an added raised area at the top to make a tight fit against webbing, so it moves less. This is good if you only have one row of webbing (I use this one on my PFD shoulder strap).
  • 75-20 NS: This is the same 50-20 NS clip, but 75mm long. It will allow the hook to catch the PALS ladder two rows down from the top and fit tightly.
Printing instructions
  • Choose the clip type you want.
  • Print the .stl file as-oriented, in a material suitable for your usage.
  • Use supports under the inner “docking ring” (see photo).
  • Manually clean up the support and ensure the docking ring looks good.
Installation instructions
  • Position the clip at an angle over the lanyard attachment.
  • Gently push it down into place (it will flex and then snap on).
  • Use the original screw to secure it.
  • To remove, follow the steps in reverse. Make sure to pull the screw out entirely before removing.
Safety warnings
  • The radio is waterproof, but don't think it floats. Make sure you use a suitable material for printing the clip.
Notes
  • I designed this model in OpenSCAD and it's fully parameterized. If you'd like a simple modification for another purpose (i.e., clip length, width, hook length, etc.), send me some measurements and I'll see what I can do.
