Customizable Stackable Coasters

Instructions:

Image Preparation:

• Choose your desired image. If using an app like GIMP or Photoshop, ensure your image is approximately 65,000 total pixels or less. A dimension close to 256x256 pixels works best, but it doesn't need to be perfectly square.
• Opt for a black background by inverting the image colors if necessary.
• For a refined appearance, apply a 1-pixel radius blur after resizing. If using GIMP, you can find this as the 'Gaussian Blur' option under filters.

Exporting:

• Save or export your processed image as a .PNG file.

OpenSCAD Configuration:

• Launch OpenSCAD and locate the image_file variable. Update its value with the path to your .PNG image.
• Crucially, modify the image_pixels variable to match the exact width and height (in pixels) of your image. Additional variables can be tweaked according to your preference.

Rendering:

• Render your design in OpenSCAD.
• Save the rendered design as an STL file.

3D Printing:

• Slice the STL file according to your 3D printer's specifications and print.
• Note: On certain occasions, the STL file generated from OpenSCAD might face compatibility issues with slicer software. If this arises, software like MeshMixer can be employed to rectify the situation.
