I found several existing mounts for the Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd Gen), but all of them had some fancy locking mechanism and/or required supports to print properly. More importantly, it looked like all of them were too close to the tabletop, which would have blocked the USB-C port on my DIY Desk (using a IKEA BEKANT frame with a EKBACKEN work surface).

So i designed my own to make sure it's simple to print, doesn't require supports, and allows access to the USB-C port.

This mount fits the Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd Gen) with its rubber feet attached, which give it a bit of a nice friction fit and kinda “locks it in place” in the access holes for the mounting screws. There are no latches or similar for retention, but there is a shim that can be slid in from one side (front or back, depending on which way around you use it), to increase the pressure on the feet and by that the friction. It's technically not necessary, as the mount is already snug enough for me, but as i already had implemented that design feature, i just left it in. Maybe somebody else needs it. ;-)

For actually mounting it to your desk (or anywhere else), you have three options:

  • (wood) screws with a diameter of ~4mm and a countersunk head (or whatever works for you)
  • adhesive tape like 3M VHB 4655F (12mm wide, 1,5mm thick - use 2 * 60mm strips)
  • magnets (either 1 * 6x6mm, or 2 * 6x3mm or 3 * 6x2mm) glued into as many of the whole as you want/need

That's where the “universal” part for my design comes from. 😁
