This is my attempt on making a fully 3D printable remix of Push Latch Mechanism by c_bot which I believe originated from Push Latch Mechanism by Coffreedom_Official - Thingiverse.
After some tests I did with springs I designed using the great tool from Parametric Bobblehead Springs by 3D Printy, I documented my findings in Spring Material Test.
To fit a spring which holds 3D printable springs which are strong enough and do not get deformed during expansion and contraction, I had to extend the housing.
Also, I needed a bit of tape and a rubber band to hold the Link in place. I also pre-stretched the springs a bit to fit nicely.
It works!!! BUT one thing I later found out is that although the spring has enough strength to push the route part many times without issues, keeping the mechanisms in the pressed in position for multiple days permanently deforms the strings. This leads to them not being able to push the route all the way out to the end unfortunately.
On more Idea I had is to extend the housing even more an add a thicker spring to make it less prone to permanent deformation, but I did not try it.
I also tried springs with a 150° bend instead of a 180° bend but this did not benefit in any way.
The author remixed this model.
