I've just got a new iPad and for whatever reason I can only find flip covers to buy - which I hate. Still, I wanted something that could protect my new toy and still offer some protection against the occasional drop. Furthermore I wanted to protect the cameras when the iPad is laid flat on its back.

Of course, I couldn't find a model to base the cover on so I ended up having to design a model from scratch, which I've included here as well. It's not 100% cosmetically accurate, but it is dimensionally accurate. Obviously I've designed the cover based on the model and everything lines up as it should for a very snug fit.

The first material I tried was TPU but I found it wasn't nearly firm enough to wrap around the edges of the iPad and stay there. I could've made it thicker but then it wouldn't complement the cosmetics of the iPad. I ended up using a material called SBS. This is pretty firm and a little flexible, so I could easily get the cover on the iPad and it's strong enough to maintain a border around the display of the iPad. The material feels very similar to traditional cases - just a little more firm than rubber. And the bonus? It prints like a dream, muuuuuch better than TPU does and it's cheaper. In fact, I printed this at PLA settings on my Voron and found I can push the speed a little more than PLA and bridging was a non issue. I'll definitely be using more SBS for this kind of application in future!
