This print was loosely inspired by Reallyrapid's Solder Spool Holder, but remodeled from scratch with a handful of features I wanted:
Assembly tips.
I printed this out of Prusament Galaxy Black PETG, because everything in my lab must be as black as my soul; see the sample photo of the orientation that I printed everything in. This was printed on a Bambu X1 Carbon with 0.2mm layer height, on an Amazon special textured PEI plate; settings were largely the defaults, but with the brim disabled.
Once you print it, use some cyanoacrylate to glue the cage into the base, and while you have the tube of CA open, you may as well glue in some 6mm x 2mm magnets into the base, if you'd like (the corners seemed sufficient for me). Then, insert one end of the spool through, and then thread the end cap on it can be somewhat tight of a fit, so depending on your printer's tolerances, you may need to help it out with a pair of 6mm hex wrenches. Enjoy having a defined space in your organizational area for your wire!
