Keep in mind that I use the setup to mill 2 dimensional cutouts in plastic boxes.
For my application, the consistency seems to be completely fine. I get accuracies of +- 0.1mm which is completely sufficient for the cutouts.
If you want to adapt the whole concept for your own application, I would suggest the following improvements:
- Closing the holes in both "4th axis pivot" panels. Add ribs for stiffness.
- Changing the ratio / number of teeth of the 5th axis to non runway ratio, for easier control.
Generally it is difficult to provide the required stiffness for machining demanding materials with printed components. In this case you should consider choosing another design.
