About

This design allows you to mount a Dell docking station (WD15, WD19 or WD22) to a Dell P3421W monitor. You can either use no additional hardware or the official Dell Docking Station Mounting Kit to do so.

BOM

(Always)
For the clamping part:
2x M3x30 screws
2x M3 nuts

(Option 1)
For the docking station using the official Dell parts:
2x M3x12 screws*
2x M3 nuts

(Option 2)
For the docking station using no Dell parts by testudor
2x M2.5x10 sockethead screws (The length is CRUCIAL! Longer screws might destroy PCB traces and kill your dock)
This option was never printed or tested by me! Please check the attached picture of the original screws by Dell for reference.

Background

Since the Dell P3421W does not bring a fully featured docking station to the table, we had to add them at work. Sadly, the Dell Docking Station Mounting Kit was not suitable for this specific monitor due to the "special" screen mount (also noted in "compatibility list" - so no official fail of Dell).

We also used a lot of that official mounting kits but the smaller plate for wall or desk mounting was never utilised. Well... until now :D

Misc

You can mount your docking station to the left or right side of the monitor arm. Just keep in mind where the cables and connectors are and you will prefer one side ;)

I did not smooth the edges that much. During four installation processes I never hurt myself. So it should be fine.

SketchUp file is available as usual. Feel free to remix or adapt.

To my colleagues:
Print it yourself or buy a 3D printer for the whole department :p

Notes:

Maybe add support for the spaces which are left out for the M3 nuts.
Alternative: use some pliers to remove strings or print upside down and don't care about looks.

Post-Printing

Depending on your printers tolerances you might need to drill the holes for the screws to match them. They are designed as 3,2mm but hey...
