This is DC Mod for Voron 0.1. It externalizes the PSU (as opposed to having it glued to the underside of the Voron).
Using and External PSU has several advantages:
- Safety - No 220V anywhere in the printer. Only 24V DC.
- Re-use is possible for any 24V/150W PSU (e.g. Prusa Mini PSU, External Lab PSU, Old laptop PSU, …)
Important caveats:
- This is a mod for the V0.1 - won't work on V0.2 since the feet are different length.
- This mod is for running your Voron skirtless. (I.e. won't work with Skirts)
You'll need the following parts (or equivalents) as well:
- Can be found at digi-key.com, mouser.com, farnell.com, arrow.com, etc.
- Recommend you buy from official retailers, not aliexpress/etc since you are dealing with fairly high wattage levels (Up to 150W).
- Power Jack: Tensility 54-00151 (Digi-Key 839-1580-ND) (Link)
- On/Off Switch: Wurth 471002268142 (Digi-Key 732-13674-ND) (Link)
- 16 or 18 AWG Wire, preferably Silicone insulation. ~10cm long. (Between switch and power jack)
- Some heatshrink tubing (For protecting power wires)
- Solder + Solder iron
The following are optional:
- Compatible Power Plug - e.g. if you are modifying an existing PSU: Tensility 55-00051 (Digi-Key 839-1441-ND) (Link)
- Adapter for Prusa Mini PSU: Mean Well DC-PLUG-R7BF-P1J (Link)
