This model is a tool for accurately punching the holes in a tsurikawa strap - for use with my tsurikawa strap locks (see my other designs for the free files). You can make a tsurikawa strap without this tool, however this makes it quick to make tsurikawa straps in bulk.
We suggest a strap length of 35cm - this model is NOT the suggested length of the strap.
Tsurikawas are designed to work with a 1 inch (25mm) nylon strap, 2x M4x10 screws and nuts, and a 3D printed strap lock (the models for the strap locks are available free - check out my other designs!)
To use the template cut a 35cm section of strap and line the pointed end of the template up with the edge of the strap. Punch the first four holes using a handheld punch (and the fifth hole if attaching a snap button). Cut the end of the strap to a point matching the template tool.
Spin the strap around. If attaching a snap button punch the final hole using the other end of the template tool (this is for the other part of the snap button). Or, if not attaching a snap button, use the front of the template tool and punch only the first two holes, trimming the end to a point matching the template tool.
Melt the ends and holes with a lighter to prevent fraying.
There is also a version with bigger holes, in case your hole punch is too large for the regular version.
