Clip-on front shroud to improve airflow and static pressure for noctua 1040 and 2040 fans. The clips are a work in progress and might not work reliably. I'm using the previous version with only two clips (that weren't sufficient), but I didn't want to waste plastic on a second attempt and fixed the shroud with tape.
Depending on where you want to use it, maybe use heat resistant filament like PETG; PCTG, ABS, ASA and the like.
It prints the intake side down, I let it print a brim on the outside to ensure adhesion.
It's designed for an extrusion width of 0.5mm so the important structure has 2 walls thickness. 30%infill should work, the hollow parts have the infill structure modelled in anyways. 0.1mm layer height should help reduce surface roughness.
I modelled this the way i know aerodynamics work, but I didn't do any realworld testing, so I can't say if it really works or not. It should though. ;-)
One day I might build a testing rig for measuring fan performance, but knowing my schedule, it's gonna be years.
If you print this, please let me know how well it works, so I can improve on the design. :)
