You want to walk in style with a fancy Critical Cane but don't want to deal with soldering electronics. Here is your way to go. A more compact design of a connector for the Critical Cane.

All you need:

  • 1 shaft head
  • 3 d20 holders (here)
  • foot piece (also from the link above)
  • 6 M3x10 countersink head (T10)
  • 3 3x16mm countersink head wood screws (T10)
  • 25mm wooden dowel
  • optional: 6 M3 heat sink threaded inserts

Printing:

  • 3 perimeter
  • 100% infill
  • PETG, ASA or ABS (definitely something tough)
  • all parts are already in print orientation

There are two versions of the head. The thread cut version comes with 2.5mm holes, so you can directly screw the bolts into the printed part. The thread insert version has 4mm holes and a little recess for heat sink threaded inserts. The threaded inserts make assembly and disassembly a lot easier but are not necessary.

Assembly:

Take two of the d20 holders and screw them into place. Then add the 55mm d20 and attach the last d20 holder to secure everything.

Next measure the height you want your cane to be and cut the dowel to length. Test fit it and sand down the diameter if needed. You can also paint the dowel and I suggest some clear varnish or oil to protect it. Add the shaft head and secure it with the wood screws and press the foot on the other end of the dowel.
