This is my first attempt at making a poseable action figure starting from an xps file and ending up with a printable stl. I am a big fan of the Resident Evil series and I decided to make this just after Resident Evil 2 remake was released. I had originally planned a full set, but that was quite an undertaking. I am glad I have at least one to share.
I found the initial xps file on deviant art which was posted by xZombieAlix.

I had to first load the file in blender and then convert it to stl, which was easy enough as blender has the ability to do this transformation. I did have to install a plugin to do this. Then the hard part was making the file solid so that it would print and still keep a lot of the detail. This was primarily done using Meshmixer. However, a fast PC is advisable if you want to keep the detail as high as possible.
Next I created some gear joints and ball joints using fusion 360. I then placed these parts in the place of the joints. I used a sphere and did a Boolean difference to get the correct size so it would blend in place. Next I made pins and blocks to make assembly easier. I found that the most detail is kept if the parts are printed vertically, so all pieces apart from the gears are printed this way.
You will have to use glue. I printed the model shown in the pictures with PLA. Loctite super glue professional liquid, worked well for me.
I found that the shoulder joints can be loose. I recommend using some cling film to wrap around the ball joint.
Also, for the legs and arms a tip is to cut to length some of the filament wipe and insert it into the holes, then push in the hand, or elbow joint etc.
I hope that the print works out well for you and am happy to help with any issues.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
