Being annoyed by common wood plant labels rotting away after a few months in soil, I decided to design my own long-lasting 3D-printed version.
This simple print uses chalkboard stickers for the actual label. Therefore, this plant label can be customized for any plant after printing. The chalkboard stickers also gives the plant label a nice and unique look.
Since I use the plant labels outside with direct sun exposure, I printed them in PETG. However, ASA or ABS should also work. If you plan to use the labels for indoor plants only, PLA should also work perfectly.
For the actual label these chalkboard stickers 60x40mm were used. They are quite cheap (around 0,05€/each) and can also be used to label other things in your home.
For the writing a thin chalk marker was used (Edding 4085, e.g. from Amazon).
For printing, I used the DRAFT mode with 0,25mm layer height, which resulted in nice results with the Prusa MINI+.
After printing, the chalkboard label sticker is simply put on the intended surface. Afterwards, add writing on the label and stick the plant label in the pot of the plant.
The model features a 3,5mm wide rim around the label section, which itself is 64x41mm.
Although the labels I ordered were specified to be 60x40mm, their actual size was 63x40mm.
If the labels you want to use don't fit the cavity of the model or if you prefer a version without a rim, I also attached such a completly flat version of the model (Plant_Label_Flat).
The outer dimensions of both version are identical, the stem is 110mm long and the model is 3mm thick.
If you like the model and printed it for your plants, I would be very happy if you share your builds and leave me a like! :)
Happy Printing!
