PDF

A printer footprint reducing spool holder intended to minimize wobble by positioning the filament spool over the Z-axis center of gravity. This will save table space and increase stability.

This design incorporates a bearing for smooth low-friction rotating action. The bearing is an interference fit, and can be pressed in with a soft jaw vise. The knurled nut is installed into the roller.

Parts BOM:

  • 608-2RS Bearing
  • M3x16 pan head screw
  • M3x8x5 knurled heatset nut

Standoff Guide:

A guide can be mounted for some spools which can bind, which will require the following hardware:

  • (2) M4x10 socket head screw
  • (2) M4 T-Nut

There are two guide styles, rev0 sticks off to the side, and in some cases the spool can act like a flywheel and get a little to ambitious during the feed process. Rev1 was added to solve this issue by feeding the filament towards the back. Rev1 will print on a Mini bed with skirt turned off, refer to the 3mf file.
