This is a reupload of my old Thingiverse project of the same name. Below is the old description.
A while back someone made a drive bay adapter for the HTC Vive linkbox and I wanted to make something similar for a friend that owns a Valve Index (and for me when I eventually buy my own).
I've only tested this print with my own machine, and the intent is to use 3ft DisplayPort and USB 3.0 cables routed to the back of one's case, as well as using the 12 volt power from the PC's power supply unit. I went with Cable Matters DP to DP 3ft extension cord, and AmazonBasic's USB 3.0 3ft extension because of cost and because I had them at my desk to measure. The power plug is just a 5.5mm barrel plug pigtail I got off Amazon and powered via a Molex connector from my PSU, which I need to find an adapter for to use with the Index. I recommend finding a PCIe cover with cable management capabilities to help route the DisplayPort and USB from the back of the case to the front. I would like to make my own just for this later.
This is one of my first custom prints, and I'm still learning about 3D printing in general, so feedback is much appreciated.
With all that out of the way, there are some final notes I should add.
The images for this model are years old at this point, just barely pre-COVID19-pandemic. I am aware this is printed poorly, I was new! I recommend printing this face down to avoid weird stringing like in the photo.
I don't remember exactly what extender cables I used for routing the USB and DisplayPort to the front, but they were about 3 feet, and the 12V power actually came off of my PC's power supply and into a barrel jack pigtail. I have added the STEP file for adjusting the print as needed in your CAD program of choice, along with the Inventor Part file and STL file from the original post.
I would not print this as is, but rather it should be remixed into something that actually fits the cables and needs of an Index.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
