This is a "remix" of Quentibles Easy Gridfinity Parametric Box.
It allows you to create a blank of any grid size and any height.
See the notes from Quentibles original here - Easy Gridfinity Parametric Box by quentibles | Download free STL model | Printables.com
What you can play with
- The width (#grids width) of the box.
- The depth (#grids length) of the box.
- The height increment (does not need to be an integer) of the box.
- A height increment of 1 provides an overall height of 7mm (per Gridfinity spec) with a flattop “deck thickness” of 1.2mm
- See formulas below
- The screw holes, if needed. 0=No, 1=Yes
- The magnet holes, if needed. 0=No, 1=Yes
- The following original parameters are not applicable. There is surely a way to delete these unused parameters, but I am not there yet with Fusion 360:
- The thickness of the wall, without altering the bulk dimension of the box.
- The label thingy (length and width), if needed.
- The scoop thingy (length and width), if needed.
- The number of dividers, if needed.
- The ribs (thickness and width), if needed.
I needed a starting place to create some of my own models that would fit on Gridfinity sizing. I have two thoughts on how to use it:
- Create your own model separately and then glue/screw/attach it to this blank
- Create your own model starting with this parameterized blank box.
Formulas
- To calculate Dec/box thickness (mm) = (Height Increment*7)-5.8
- Example for Height Increment 2.5
- Deck or Box thickness = (2.5x7)-5.8 = 11.7mm
- To calculate Height Increment = (Deck or Box thickness+5.8)/7
- Example for desired Deck Thickness 2mm
- Set Height Increment = (2+5.8)/7 = 1.1143
FYI - I really contributed nothing to this model except to take away steps in Quentibles Fusion timeline. Nevertheless, I hope you may find it useful.
