Overview

Like many MK3/S/+ owners, I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my MK3/S/+ to MK4 upgrade kit.  I have been printing the downloadable parts and trying to customize them to look more like the photos of the MK4 that are all over the internet now.

This model replaces the boring stock front case for the planetary gears with a 4 color version that more closely resembles the part seen in photos.

The model is completely customizable to fit any color scheme that you want and can be easily printed using a MK3/S/+ and MMU2S.

Settings

Same as other Prusa Parts, but I specifically used:

  • Infill: 20% Grid
  • Nozzle: .4mm
  • Filament: PETG
  • Setting: 20mm Quality

The current photo was printed using a .25mm nozzle with a .15mm layer height.  The smaller nozzle increases the detail on the model.

What's Included

Project Files

There are three 3MF files included.  These are all oriented properly for printing and can be customized as needed.

  • mk4_pg_front_case_complete.3mf - includes the planetary gear loops and text on the cover
  • mk4_pg_front_case_text_only.3mf - only includes the text on the cover
  • mk4_pg_front_case_text_loops.3mf - only includes the planetary gear loops on the cover

STLs Folder

This folder contains all of the STL files to create the 3MF project files.

Included are:

  • 2 files for the planetary gear loops - one for when text is included and the other works well for stand along (no text) prints
  • 3 pg_front_case_relief files - each includes the text, the loops, or both.
  • 5 text files - with each word/number split into it's own file.

These files (excluding the text files) are not oriented for printing.  A 180 degree on the y-axis after any customization should get things set up though.

Update: July 18, 2023 - uploaded a new photo showing the R3 version of the cover.

Update: July 6, 2023 - reorganized the files and added the R2 and R3 versions of the planetary gear cover.  STL files that are common across all of the revisions, are now in their own folder.
