There's one part of our yard where you run the risk of tripping over a chipmunk every time you walk there. To guard against this lethally cute risk, I created this sign - slightly niche because it's a Euro-style roadsign for a North American mammal, but as an immigrant from the UK, this is just what warning signs look like to me.
This is my first multicolor design, and it came out somewhat complex - but not that hard to print. Each part has no more than two colors, split by layer, so you can print on a single-extruder printer that handles pausing for filament swap, eg a stock MK3S+. I've included 3MFs for this but please check them before you print as I've had to regenerate them a couple of times. The dual color on the frames is somewhat optional (change at ~1.4mm), as it only affects the back of the sign, but you'll want to swap the inners from white to black at around 2-2.2 mm. The print it quite high-relief, but I like the effect.
For the full sign, you'll need to print one each of
Each inner should sit inside its frame with just enough clearance; a drop of glue or double-sided tape should hold it in place.
Each frame has small mounting holes in the back (note that this means that the text frame has a right and a wrong way up) which will slip over matching pegs on the pole. A drop or two of glue on each peg (I used Loctite Super Glue Brush On Liquid) will hold it all together. The pole is slightly over-long to allow it to be stuck in the ground.
No supports or special settings should be needed; I printed in PLA with about 15% infill. You might want to iron top surfaces.
The icon of the chipmunk is traced from a photo I took back in 2020 so there are no rights complications there.
