Ring Spring: Based around a compliant spring mechanism. Provides several unusual options to attach the ring. All with a fun kinetic: Remember those door stopper springs kids play with? Sorta like that.
The compliant spring mechanism adjusts to most ring sizes. Rings can be pushed in the spring from the top or bottom or securely hung on a loop of the spring. Or just drop the ring around the spring and watch it quickly jumps around down to the base.
Designed to rest on a table surface but could be mounted on a wall with double-sided tape.
This is a two part construction. Designed to be a friction fit but feel free to use glue if needed.
Note: if the top of your base suffers from “stair stepping,” you might try reducing the layer height. Or you could try flipping the print upside down so the top sloped side faces the bed. However, it will need supports for the small region that has a different angle.
Personal note: In my rush to submit this, my prints suffer from “elephant foot.” So I had to modify the stem of the spring a bit to get it to friction fit into the base. But it worked fine after that.
Looking forward to hearing how you liked it. Thanks.
