Originally, IKEA Skadis boards are only mounted to the wall on the top, with the bottom side left floating. Even though the design features spacers for the bottom to keep the right distance to the wall, this does not feel very sturdy. This model tries to fix it.

This custom mount is composed of two interlocking parts. The bottom part will be screwed to the wall. The top part can be attached to the bottom part by a rotating interlocking mechanism. The Skadis board then attaches to the mount with the reused original spacer screw.

For each Skadis board you'll need:

  • 2x the top part
  • 2x the bottom part
  • 2x hex nut (M4)
  • 2x the original screw for the original bottom spacer

Assembly:

  1. Mount the bottom parts to your wall. Use screw anchors and countersunk screws as per your liking.
  2. Place hex nuts in the top parts. Maybe use a drop of super glue to fix them.
  3. Mount the top parts to the bottom parts by just pushing them on and rotating about 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
  4. Use the original IKEA screws to fix the Skadis board to the wall mount.
