Background

This is my remix version of the existing Bambu Gridfinity storage base plates.  It is a 1x8 (actually 9 wide) grid for basic tool storage.  It is a lite version that uses minimal filament with cutouts and reduced height.  It uses magnets to hold the cubes into place.

Print Settings:

Main Frame Sides & Splice (1x Left, Right, Splice Required)

  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 3 walls
  • 5 top and bottom layers
  • Arachne slice engine

   Foot (8x Required)

  • Material: TPU
  • 0.1mm layer height
  • Printed at 100% infill
  • Arachne slice engine

Assembly

   Hardware required

  • 4x M3 Heat-Set Inserts (https://www.mcmaster.com/94180A331/)
  • Or you can use superglue if you don’t want to use heat-set inserts
  • 4x M3 x 6 Button Head Screws
  • 32x 6mm x 2mm magnets for the Base & 32x magnets for your bins

   Instructions

  1. Using a soldering iron, insert 4x heat-set inserts into the Splice plate.
  2. Use a small screw driver to break through the 4x sacrificial floor/bridge printed on the Left and Right frames.
  3. Using your M3x6 button head screws, secure the Left and Right frames together by threading into the Splice plate.
** If you do not have heat-inserts, you can attach Left and Right frames together by super gluing the splice plate to the frame halves.**
  4. Insert the 6x2 magnets into the magnet counterbores.  You may need to put a drop of superglue into the counterbores to ensure the magnets stay secured.
  5. Press the TPU feet into the tapered counterbores to secure them into place.  The holes are tapered so the feet do not fall out.  The center hole is to allow you to flex the foot enough to get it into the hole while printing at 100% infill.
