My earlier design for a RepRack Hanger Lock secures the RepRack hanger and rails to the RepRack wall cleat. This prevents the hangers and rails from popping loose by minor bumps and shakes. That's all well and good, but the filament spools need to be secured to the rails.
The solution: Hook and loop straps (aka Velcro) around the spool and the rails. I tried a few different velcro solutions, and here is what worked for me:
If you find a cheaper or better type of strap, please let us know in the comments!
I've also created some simple filament label tags for you to use on your straps. These tags can be threaded onto the Velcro to identify which roll is which. They are two-color friendly--a filament change at the right layer will make the text stand out! I've made tags for most common filament types, and there's even a blank tag that you can write on with a sharpie, or you can use the "add text" feature available in PrusaSlicer 2.6 and above.
I've included the original OpenSCAD source file as well.
I printed in PETG but I suspect PLA will work just fine as well.
Please let me know if you found this info and the tags useful. Thanks for reading!
