This is a simple variable capacitor. the main idea was to make it extremely easy to print and not require to cut metal plates. i was inspired by another very clever design that use a rotating cylinder. this has a gap of around 10mm between the cylinder and the base. this enable a theoretical of 10kV.
the equipment needed is aluminized tape, the 3D printed part and a main shaft of non-conductive material with a diameter of around 8mm~.
simply tape up the cylinder and base surface and connect your wire unto both. pass the shaft into the cylinder thru the base and then glue the knob on!
there is a big version and a small version.
i tested the small one on my DIY 40m frame antenna and it works great!
