My racing simulator rig uses a Fanatec racing wheel and a metal dashboard for additional buttons. The dash metal plate unfortunately covered the backlit power button on the racing wheel, so I drilled out the dash so I could push the button through the whole. Rather than use a pen or other device to fit through the hole, I designed my own backlit power button.
The first few layers were printed in Red PLA as the face of the button, where the remainder of the layers were printed in transparent PETG. There is a color change programmed into the gcode file to swap material.
Very strong, provides nice lighting effect, and no supports needed!
Enjoy! :-)
