Compact Remote-Controlled Rover

This small remote-controlled rover started as a fun project I wanted to build and improve over time. At its core, it\u2019s a simple box on wheels, powered by several Li-Ion batteries. The idea is to make it easy to add different parts and features as needed.

One of the setups I\u2019m working on is made for exploring around the house while getting a clear video feed. I\u2019ve mounted an old Windows PC on the rover, connected a few USB cameras, and used OBS Studio to arrange the video on my screen. It connects over Wi-Fi, so I can drive it from my computer.

In OBS, I set up the camera views to feel like driving a car. The main camera shows the front view, the rear camera is placed at the top of the screen like a mirror, and I plan to add a third camera on a small pan-tilt mount so I can look around without turning the rover. It makes driving much easier and more fun\u2014especially if you\u2019re just learning how to control something remotely.

The assembly process is relatively simple. Based on the interest generated by the project, I will add more detailed information.

I printed all my mini RC components using ASA filament, except for the cover, which is made of PETG.

Assembling the wheels can be a bit tedious, involving pushing and pulling silicone plugs. However, these wheels offer excellent grip on grass and rocky terrain, with the silicone plugs providing cushioning and shock absorption. If you successfully build these wheels, please share your results. I might update the document with additional information, but documentation takes time. Without interest in this project, there's no reason for updates.
