I love audio recorders with build in microphones. They still outperform smartphones significantly when it comes to clean and sensitive audio recordings. The only downside is that the microphones are not decoupled from the housing (which is not much different on modern smartphones). If you move your fingers over the surface or change your grip on the housing while you record, you will hear this very noticeably and your recording is messed up.
Use this shock mount to put pocket audio recorders, like the Zoom H1 or H1N onto a GoPro-style tripod, hand-grip or selfie-stick. It reduces the rumble from touching the stick or tripod significantly.
For little pocket recorders like the Zoom H1 or H1N, I recommend the extra flexible spring bow. It is only 3mm wide, while the normal bow is 8mm wide (both are 2mm thick). The more flexible your spring is, the better will it decouple the recorder from rumbling at the grip or tripod. Only for heavier recorders, you probably will need the strength of the 8mm wide spring.
As material I strongly recommend PETG. Due to it's flexibility, it will decouple the grip better from the recorder. And it will make it easier to drive the M3 screws in (see assembly instructions below).
These parts can be printed very quickly and easily. Just put them onto your print bed in the uploaded orientation. Use 4 perimeters for strength and 100% infill (which makes basically no difference in material usage, as most of parts will be perimeters anyway).
No brim or supports will be necessary.
All you need in addition to the printed parts are 8 pieces of M3x6 screws. The screws can be driven right into the prepared holes, no thread cutting is needed. You need to flex the bow springs a bit to drive the screws in. The heads of all screws pointing inward, facing each other.
… Or you simply glue all parts together. That should word fine if you trust your glue to hold your recorder well. I liked the idea of screwing better.
You can either use a commercial quarter-inch photo tripod screw. Or you can pick any of the designs here on printables. You will need a screw with a thread length of about 10mm. Be my guest and use the screw from one of my other publications here if you like it: https://www.printables.com/model/454133
Your satisfaction is my reward. Please like this design or post a photo if you like this design. Happy printing!
