Designed for Octoprint

If you are looking for a nice Octoprint case, this is right for you.
Also, RaspiCam is supported!

Updates

01-16-21: New version available! All suggestions have been accepted and implemented in the new version. Thanks to you all for your support and feedbacks! Here are the improvements:

  • Snap-fit joints were completely redesigned in order to make a more rigid coupling still allowing an easy disassembly;
  • Implemented a MicroSD slot for easy access to the SD card without the need to disassemble the whole case;
  • As the older version, an opening on the Upper-case_CamCable is provided for the RasPi Cam's flat cable to pass through.
  • Even better airflow is garanteed by the hexagon shaped holes on the bottom side of the Lower-case for the cold air to pass through and help keep the RasPi's temperature low; It's recommended to print four Hexagons and insert them in the slots of the Lower-case to use them as stand-offs;
  • Slightly smaller than previous version to reduce material consumption;
  • Aesthetics improvements.
In the Lower-case there's a 0.2 mm thick bridge to prevent the corners of SD card slot from falling making too difficult the insertion of the MicroSD-cover (see picture below). Once print finishes, just cut it out as if it were a support.

If you like this design, please consider buying me a coffee to support me in the creation of many other useful designs as a sign of gratitude for the huge amount of time and effort. Thank you very much and happy printing!

Assembly

No hustle in assembly, just three steps and you are good to go:

  1. Print it;
  2. Insert the Raspberry Pi;
  3. Snap fit all together.

Simple as eating a sandwich ;-)

No fan needed
The case is designed to optimize the air flow and to keep the Raspberry Pi well cooled without the need of a cooling fan.

How it's been made

This is a remix of my Raspberry Pi 4 case. In order to make it much easier to assemble the case with the RPi4, a few changes were made:

  • Divided the lower part in two halves for easier inserting of
    Raspberry Pi;
  • Added snap fit link between upper case and lower case;
  • Using four M2.5x4 screws is recommended in order to keep the Pi in place, but not
    strictly necessary.
  • Minor improvements from the aesthetic point of view.

Variants

As the previous version, the upper case is provided in two variants:

  • Upper case cut so as to allow the passage of the RaspiCam's flat cable;
  • Upper case without the opening.

Hope you enjoy printing my designs as much as I do; if so, like or post a make and, as always, happy printing!

Print instructions

  • Layer height: 0.2 mm;
