For smaller bins these are great to save filament over the regular without being too fragile like vase mode.
The one pictured is 2x4x9 printed on a 0.4mm nozzle @0.25mm layer height and 0.6mm line width (in Elegoo Matte Black PLA). Took around 50 minutes.
It has a bit of flex in the long walls so I think I'd use a regular bin for anything longer than a 4.
Considering it was designed for a 0.6 it printed pretty well. The only issue was at the crests of where the grid joins in the middle. It seemed to have tried to print in thin air rather than bridge.
Just finished printing my first test box and I am really happy with the result!! The boxes print quickly, are despite the fact that they are very light they look and feel quite resistant! I will now test your clickfinity :-) What would be great is to have parameters in the fusion file to handle more than one separation. Something that would allow to create multiple separations with different sizes... Thanks for your work.
These a great bins, they've been so useful in organizing my electronics drawers.
I just run them off at 0.2 mm layers and they come off great.
This model is too thin for me. I could not get it print consistently with my 0.4 mm nozzle. The spacing between the grooves ends up with only 1 wall wide when printed at a 0.24mm layer height, resulting in a very weak box that falls apart easily. You can see the the missing areas of filament in my pics.
@Calmly From your pictures it looks like you are underextruding, is that possible?
If you want to give it a shot, I designed the model to be printed with a 0.6 nozzle and 0.3 layer height. IIRC, the bottom layer is 0.6. When you print at 0.24 layer height, you will end up with a 0.48 bottom layer instead of a 0.6 one. Also walls are 0.6.
Nice job on the model!
Planning to do a remix :)
This is going to be a journey :D
@Jaymathmatic_1249496 those are some sexy boxes.
These worked great for many of the bins for my kid's rugged craft set using Pred's Gridfinity box. (edited)
