Overlocker spools are much cheaper than standard sewing spools for the same length, so I designed a holder to easily use them on my sewing machine.
My machine has a coil holder slot with a 6mm hexagonal recessed hole (between two parallel sides of the hexagon)
If your support slot is different, this model will have to be adapted
Printing instructions:
- I advise you to print the stem separately with a very small layer height (0.1mm or less) so that it has a good accuracy
- I also advise you to print it in PETG with at least 3 perimeters so that it is strong
- For the 2 other parts, you can print them with a layer height of 0.3mm to save printing time
- No supports needed
- For the stem, to avoid warping you can add brim, but the two “helper_disk” I put at the two ends of the stem in the 3mf should be enough
Mounting instructions:
- Remove the 2 helper discs at the ends of the stem
- Insert the bottom part (the wider one) onto the hexagon stem
- Place the stem in the support slot of your sewing machine and push the bottom part until it is in contact with the body of your machine
- You can put super glue to fix the stem and the bottom part together (remove the holder from the machine before doing this)
- Place the spool on the holder
- Place the top part on the holder
As all my models, it is available as pay what you want.
So if it helps you, please consider giving me a tip or saying thank you in the comments ^w^
