This magnet was one of the first things I wanted to 3D print but I never found one like it, so I made one using TinkerCAD. The face is intentionally goofy, mostly.
I designed it to use craft magnets bought at Wal-Mart which are 19mm in diameter and about 5mm thick. (The holes 3mm deep)
Since I'm entering the Smile Frown magnet in Prusa's ‘Models with Magnets’, I decided to add a version that uses a more commonly used magnet. The 6x2mm magnets used in the popular Gridfinity system is an alternative.
The 6x2mm magnets press into the holes with a diameter of 6.1mm, I put a drop of super glue for extra security.
I prefer the softer craft magnets on my dishwasher, the neodymium will scratch the stainless steel.
This is a video about the last update I made to the magnet.
