A filament box based on the familiar hexagon style but redesigned for the integrated auto-rewind spool holder v5.6. by Vincent Groenhuis. This box fits the 75mm version.

I designed this for my MMU2S to remove the buffer and keep all filaments enclosed. The printer is in a cabinet with a lifting lid so these are screwed in place to allow me to access the MMU2S without having to move all of filaments out of the way.

It's designed to fit spools \u00d8202x88mm, so Prusament or any of the slightly wider standard spools. It has 3 holes on the base to screw it in place and has a M10 thread at the filament opening for PC4-M10 PTFE tube fittings.

It uses 4 \u00d86x3mm magnets to keep the box closed and 2 M3x12 screws for the hinges. It has a slot for a filament sample card to keep track of which filament is loaded without having to open it.

The PTFE tube fittings make the full filament path enclosed all the way to the MMU2S but they make loading filament a little difficult. When loading filament remove the PTFE tube from the box and pass the filament through the hole. Then you can place the spool with the auto-rewind shaft into the box. Feed the filament through the PTFE tube until it reaches the MMU2S and use the Load Filament option to make sure the filament is gripped by the drive gear. Then you can push the PTFE tube back into the quick connect fitting.

Fusion 360 files are included to allow modification.

Print instructions

The box should be printed in PLA. PETG may work but will not have flat sides as it warps on large thin wall sections.

The shaft was printed in PLA with 50% infill and 4 perimeters. I used variable layer height to get a smoother surface at the upper portion of the curve.

The springs of the integrated auto-wind spool holder should be PETG.
