I loved the steampunk switch by 3D Printing World but I wished it had more throw to it. Then I came across the switch by JBVCreative and the wheels started turning. I took both models and modified and combined parts from both into one. And now I have a switch that goes fully vertical up and down to switch the lights on and off. The only downfall is the actual light switch has to be taken out and flipped around so up will be on and down will be off.
And This isn't for my kids room, it's for my printing room (muahahaha) but I do have another cool remix coming for the switches in the kids room as well, using some of these same parts.
I printed everything with 3 perimeters and 20 percent gyroid infill and everything is nice and strong. The wood handle I added a hex hole to that a standard drill bit fits into, so you can push it on the end of a drill bit on a drill and spin it and hold it against a piece of sand paper to sand it nice and smooth and even before staining. Just don't spin it super fast and take breaks so it don't melt. This worked perfect. I also did not use the c clip on the pin, it wont be needed anyway.
I glued the 2 side gears to the plate. Assembled the rest and pressed the assembly in-between the gears. You have to push the lever up a bit to get the top screw in, then push the lever down a bit to get the bottom screw in when installing. You'll have to angle the screw driver in a bit to get around the handle itself. But with patience they will go in.
I love it, the wife hates it and the kids think its super cool. So it was a big win lol
Have fun. And check out the originals as well.
