Use this OpenSCAD generator to create your own custom size box.

Features:

  • Set the length and width of the internal cells
  • Set the number of rows and columns for the cells
  • Set the height of the inside of the cells
  • Set the height and thickness of the inside walls
  • Set the thickness of the outside walls
  • Optionally include a lip on the lid
  • Outside dimensions are automatically calculated
  • Latch designed for solid closing and easy opening
  • NO support needed
  • Program also includes design aids like color, cutaway, and lid rotation.
  • Set the clearances to work best for your printer
    • Shorter boxes can use 0.2 hinge clearance & 0.4 latch clearance
    • Taller boxes may need 0.3 hinge clearance & 0.5 latch clearance

I have made a 2 cell box for crochet needles, and several 8 cell box for beads. I also made a small proof of concept box that will hold 9 printer nozzles. (Details for these boxes can be seen in the json file - which may be downloaded here but must be renamed to remove the “.txt” {Printables doesn't allow .json files}  and placed in the same directory as you install my OpenSCAD file.)

The only limits are the size of your printer and your imagination.

Slicing note

The hinge area should be solid - in PrusaSlicer set "solid infill threshold area" to 1000mm (see my 3MF file).
